Virtual Circuit Rules -- Virtual Circuit organized 9/2000

I know, I know, MORE rules! But in order for our circuit to run smoothly and consistently, we all need to work from the same page, i.e., rules.

1. Entries may or may not be digital in origin. They will, however, have their origin in some type of camera (film, digital, etc.). (This rule's intention is to prevent someone from entering their painting or other picture or design created without using a camera, say, drawing a fractal on a computer, and taking a photo of this, having it be the entire picture. We want our photo entries to be works of art, not just photos of art.

2. Entries are unlimited as to subject matter.

3. Entries will be displayed on a web page in jpeg format (.jpg) with the size not to exceed 400 pixels for either dimension. (We want each photograph to fit on everyone's screen for ease of viewing.)

4. Entries must be the work of the entrant, and may not include--even in small part--photographs made by others, or even (any generation of) photographs of the photographs made by others.

5. Members of this circuit are limited to, at the most, 2 people from any same N4C-member camera club. This rule is solely to allow our members to interact with and learn from different people than those they already interact with more often at their local club(s).

6. Circuit members will upload two entries to their web space on or before the 15th of every odd-numbered month. Please try to use the same viewing web addresses (usually 1 per image) each time so the circuit secretary's page of links can remain the same. Members can then access pages via the secretary's page or can bookmark addresses, as they wish. If you want titles, you are responsible for putting them up with your photos.

7. Circuit members will award numerical scores and make useful comments on the entries of all other members. As with other circuits, members agree to make their scores and comments before seeing those made by the others. Each member should prepare one email showing all scores and comments, and send the entire email to everyone in the circuit. (Please use a subject line of "Virtual Circuit Scores and Comments" for your email feedbacks so it won't be opened accidentally.) Numerical scores will be 1-5 on technique, composition, and interest (no fractional scores, please). Comments should be useful and informative to the photographer--this is the main reason for the circuit, to hear lots of feedback from our fellow artists. (The circuit secretary will provide an email shell document on the web site.)

8. In the event of a tie, unlike N4C competitions, ties will not be broken. For example, if two entries tie for 1st, there will be two 1st places and no 2nd that month; if extra entries tie for HM, we will just have more HM's that month.

9. The schedule of member duties to be followed is shown on the secretary's web site.

10. Any member falling behind or not following these rules may be dismissed from the circuit by the secretary or by a majority vote of the members. (If you have special circumstances, please contact the secretary to keep the group informed.)
